Summary: AcuYin Bliss for the Lung and Large Intestines Meridians is a two-hour workshop, which includes 60 minutes of a focused Yin Yoga practice followed by a balancing (optional) ear acupuncture treatment received during a 50 minute Savasana. Yes, that's right. No, that is not a typo. Fifty minutes of adult nap time.
The spirit of the Lung, which is most active in the Fall is responsible for animal wit, embodied knowing and sensation. It is closely related to the Autonomic Nervous System, the sensory receptors – especially the primitive touch responses of the skin and the interior sense receptors of the visceral organs. Emotional and physical symptoms of an imbalance include stress related skin problems, chronic tension and pain, clouded mind, asthma and obsessions, depression and anxiety.
Yin Yoga is a practice where one holds asanas or poses for anywhere between three to five minutes working into the deep connective tissues of the body increasing mobility and flexibility in the joints. This practice works with the Meridian energy lines of the body by unlocking the fascia. Physically this workshop will focus on opening the shoulders, neck and upper back.
Ear Acupuncture has a long history of use in China and is a complete medical system in Chinese Medicine. It was mentioned in the most famous of ancient Chinese medical textbooks, “The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine.” In modern times, auricular therapy has been shown to stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's own feel-good chemicals. Your Savasana will include one or two acupuncture needles in each ear. These auricular points help to alleviate stress and anxiety while aiding to balance one’s energy.
Please be sure to eat prior to our class.
